Industrial Gas Transportation

A number of factors must be considered for the safe and secure transportation of industrial gases. Every industrial gas user should be sure that their gas supplier does all of them properly, so that your employees and facilities are safe. Recent developments in the world also now mandate the consideration of product and vehicle security during transport as well as at the customer's facilities.

Linde takes great pride in the completeness and diligence of its programs to safely and efficiently maintain and operate its fleet of trucks and gas containers. Every year we drive millions of miles while keeping our percentage of reportable incidents below the industry norm. Our customers can feel comfortable knowing that Linde Gas adheres to all government regulations and industry safety standards.

Industrial Gas Transportation - Vehicle Loading and Securement

Care must be taken with cryogenic tankers, since the liquid gas can slosh from side-to-side in a partially-full tanker, which can change the vehicle's center of mass. During unloading, proper steps must be followed to safely transfer the product into the storage tank at the customer's site. In all cases, security of the vehicle, the product and the storage facility must be considered.

Industrial Gas Transportation - Regulations

A number of agencies have regulations impacting the transportation of industrial gases, including the DOT. Truck maintenance, driver's hours of service, recordable incidents and many other issues are subject to DOT regulations. Also by DOT regulation, gas cylinders must be requalified at prescribed intervals. Cylinders failing the requalification process must be removed from service. Linde adheres to these and all other regulations.

Proper material labeling, truck placards and shipping papers are very important steps in the safe transportation of hazardous materials. And some industrial gases fall into several of these categories. Linde complies with all Hazardous Material Regulations set by the various regulatory agencies, including OSHA and EPA.
